Weekend and April Round Up

This has been a very crazy weekend, international news wise. It started with Prince William and Catherine Middletons Royal Wedding, and ended with Osama bin Laden’s death. I stayed up until 5amon friday (having to go to work at 8:30am) to watch the new couple have their first “official” kiss as husband and wife. The Duchess of Cambridge (as she is now known) looked positively glowing, and just as a princess should. I thought her dress was very simple, but stunning, and her sister was just down right hot. The Duke of Cambridge (as Prince William is now known) totally rocked the military uniform. Formal military uniforms are always hot, and Prince Harry was looking pretty sexy too.

I first heard about the bin Laden thing on twitter. One of my cousins retweeted something about a mission accomplished sign being brought out again, and my brow furrowed. “What the heck is happening, world?” I asked myself. I found out quickly enough, and may I say, I am so glad that Obama was the one to give the speech that bin Laden had been killed. I feel like it somehow validates his presidency a little bit further. It also clarifies why he laid to rest the birth certificate issue, which was dumb and a waste of time. I hope those directly affected by the 9/11 attacks and other attacks brought on by Al-Qaeda will find a bit more peace. Surely this will only make for some more unrest, but for now, we can breathe a sigh of ease.

On to less depressing topics, shall we?

Taken yesterday during my walk

This April, I accomplished quite a bit.

  • I finally started to focus on my breathing, which has helped tremendously in continuing the c25k training. I’m on week 4 so far. I can’t wait to continue it tomorrow!
  • I redecorated my blog, made it a little easier to look at, and designed a new header. Also, declared my official exit from the 300’s and entry back into the 290’s. Quite proud indeed!
  • And I completed my second and third walks of the season, a happy 4 mile MS Walk, and this past weekend’s Heart Run.

Things that have happened but didn’t make it to my blog, I registered for 3 more races!

I’m really excited about all these races, but the Portland Rock and Roll Half has got to be the one I’m most excited for.  Just a couple of weeks ago my mom and I were talking about how the only thing our family does during get-togethers is sit around, eat and gossip. And while its fun to catch up on things, it is also not encouraging of healthy behaviors and lifestyles, especially since we all seem to be on a kick start of them recently.

After talking with my absolutely beautiful, wonderful, and most favoritest cousin, Mama T, she decided we would run a half marathon together, and she chose the one in Portland since that is where we grew up. In the week or so since that decision, two of her friends, and several of our other cousins have signed up to run with us. All of a sudden we are having a family reunion based around a half marathon, a first and most epic event in our family history. I am super excited to see her again, and the rest of my family and to sit around, gossip, eat, and run.

Its the End of the World as we Know it!

3 things happened.

1) I woke up this morning with the very intense need to find a dentist. My back molar has completely fallen out.
2)Read in the paper that the Supreme Court ruled that Corporations did not need to limit their spending on political campaigns. They are free to run their own campaign, for or against any elected politician they choose.
3)I had an insurance meeting this afternoon. They are decreasing my benefits which up til this point, they have paid for entirely. Vision, Medical, Dental. They removing the dental insurance, and we are now being charged $50 pre-taxed a month on average for our decreased higher deductible insurance. I have until March 15th to see a doctor before my insurance runs out.

See how it relates to the universe?

If only we had a public option, or a third option that was not going to rob me blind, or wouldn’t cost my employer so much, wouldn’t that have been nice? The filibuster is gone; Corporations now get to buy their congressmen and, senators and, PRESIDENTS and, mayors to decide everything.

There is a revolution coming. A revolution for the ages. How can we as people survive being owned? How can we stay the united states of America, if the companies we become owned by are on foreign soil? Where is our Sovereignty as a nation? Our own Supreme Court sold us out to Big Market.

The only way to survive is to fight or flee. The Jihadist’s are winning. We are destroying ourselves. This country is destroying itself with this constant junk media and need for instant gratification. We are discovering the end of our existence. Is there a way out of this? Is there a way to fix this grave injustice to democracy and free will?

Some say the Apocolypse is a’comin’…

… and others say its just evolution. I don’t care either way. But its been a very busy weekend.
GOP Maine Senator behaves in a dumb fashion, out of touch with the realities of today by voting to strip pandemic monies from stimulus fund, Mexico becomes diseased with Swine Flu, which we can’t protect ourselves from because of Maine, then has an earthquake, Ms. California still doesn’t get the punchline, probably because she’s trying to smell a scratch n’ sniff at the bottom of a pool.

Good news though, Gays are lining up in Iowa to get married, because their state government doesn’t suck as much as the rest of the country’s (certain states excluded, of course).

It looks like rain outside, and that makes me sad. I hope I don’t get sick.

Its like a Twofer!

So, the Obama Admisitration is being totally hip by inviting an unknown ammount of gay, lesbian, transgender, queer families to the White House’s annual Easter Egg Hunt this year.

The hunt has been happening for many years, (though this is the first time I’ve ever heard of it- go figure) and I guess the LGBTQ clique has been not present for most of those years. Joe.My.God. mentioned that the LGBTQ clique was invited in 2006, just to be shunned by the crazy right wing people, and allegedly ruined the event for everyone.

Whatever, whatever.

I really hope that Obama isn’t teasing us, treating us like equals to make us feel equal, but in the long run still denying us those last few civil rights we’ve been fighting for, for so long.

Oh this woman makes me steam!

I work for a non-profit that deals with education, employment, and basically all the things she just decided to cut. A lot of our grant money could be affected by this. I’m kinda pissed right now.

So hopefully our legislature will do the right thing (accept the rest of it, bitch!) and then I can point and laugh at her for being dumb.

She said no to $160 MILLION for EDUCATION because “I don’t want to create more government jobs”

Are you fucking kidding me?
